Story of Me
The Story of Me is an introductory project designed to build community. It empowers students to understand themselves and see themselves as an individual in wider world. They explore their passions, talents, values and personal challenges. It encourages them to open up and share themselves within the community and gain confidence and respect in themselves.
Teacher Collaboration
As an opening project, teachers from different disciplines collaborate around the project, The Story of Me, in a variety of ways: looking at the art of storytelling, providing opportunities to reflect on the many spheres of influence in their lives- from family to global, investigating thier genetic heritage and how their brain works, and learning to create a three minute video.
Student Empowerment
Students are empowered to understand who they are and how they see themselves in the world. They are empowered to learn new skills, explore their creative side, take risks, and build a safe and trusting community. Students are given free range on how they write, create and visually produce their story, allowing them to experiment with ways to show who they are.
Impact
The impact of this project is the insight this project gives students into themselves and to each other. Students learn about each other: their talents, their passions, and their challenges. As stories are shared, a sense of community and trust grows, building strong bonds as members of the learning community.
